Han Yifeng [early Qing Dynasty, 1616–1911] was a countygovernor, and gifted in the applications of acupuncture and moxibustion. Hetreated patients in his spare time and gained a good reputation. In his Cases from Famous Doctors,Arranged by Category the famous doctor Wei Zhixiu [d. 1772] mentioned Han and his good deeds several times.

Han once treated the then Minister for Engineering,Xu Yuanzheng, whose disease was very serious. His face was badly swollen and saliva dribbled from the corners of his mouth, he was unable totalk and his legs were too heavy to walk. After taking Xu's pulse, Han said to him, “I have to use acupuncture and moxibustion to treat you.” He asked Xu'schildren to bring a candle, then he lifted his hands to needle the top of Xu’shead. Lord Xu, his children and grandchildren all became worried and scared, and said: “How can you administer acupuncture and moxibustion to the head? It must be so painful?” Han Yifeng was very experienced and insisted on thetreatment, but they withdrew their permission, and he regret fully had to leave his patient.
Later, Lord Xu's family learned from other sources that Han had excellent medical skills and his acupuncture and moxibustion were magical. When they realised there was no other cure, they invited Han again. Lord Han administered acupuncture with more than twenty needles at points including bai hui (GV20), shen ting (GV24), shen men (HT7), huan tiao (GB30),feng shi (GB31), zu san li (ST36), yong quan (KD1) and so on. The patient had expected it would be really painful, but in fact, he felt extremely comfortable, and thought there could not have been a better effect. It seemed as if theillness all over his body had suddenly disappeared. If the family hadn't invited Lord Han back, they would not have encountered such an excellent doctorand Lord Xu would have spent the rest of his life in his sick bed.
